Danes are out of danger after Central African Republic upheaval

The situation in Central African Republic is worsening, but the three Danes who were trapped yesterday, are now safe

The three Danes who were trapped in Central African Republic (CAR), have now left the country. The Copenhagen Post’s source has reported that one of the UN employees flew out the CAR yesterday and that the other UN employee flew out today and has now arrived in Cameroon.

The last Dane who was stuck in the CAR works for Dansk Flygtningehjælp, which has also confirmed that their employee left early today and has arrived safely in Cameroon.

The three Danes will have to go through several official procedures before they can return to Denmark. They are expected back later this week.

The French military yesterday prioritised getting children out of the CAR due to the deteriorating security situation there. The source said that children are being kidnapped and enrolled in the military and that the French military shot and killed two innocent Indians who were on their way to the airport yesterday.

The source, who is a family member to one of the UN employees, said that several Europeans remain trapped in the CAR, including two German women who are currently unable to get to the airport in Bangui.
