Select Shopping | Hand lotions: lubricated and ready to go

In the Castro neighbourhood of San Francisco, there’s an actual shop called Hand Job Nails and Spa, which is kind of apt for the customers who want smooth and soft mitts. Especially with the colder weather approaching, your hands need all the more attention. So if you are not so fortunate to live next to a hand job shop, here are some suggestions for hand lotion purchases that should do the job for you.

Eight Hour Creme

You can’t go wrong with Elisabeth Arden’s 8h hand crème. Only perhaps with your timing. It is really rather sticky – the name should be taken literally – so ideally put it on at night and wake up to beautiful and soft skin in the morning. You don’t need to put very much on – which is good because the price is steep. You get 75 ml for 200kr.

Matas, Østerbrogade 44, Cph Ø; open Mon-Thu 09:30-18:00, Fri 09:30-19:00, Sat 09:30-16:00, Sun 11:00-16:00

Tusindfryd

If you fancy a hand lotion that doesn’t contain perfume and is very inexpensive, Tusindfryd is a safe bet. It dries fairly quickly, doesn’t leave your hands sticky and it is a bargain at 29.50kr. Irma also often has good reductions in the Tusindfryd series – so you can either stock up on hand lotion or get your soap and shower gel while you are at it.

Crabtree and Evelyn

A reliable classic – Crabtree and Evelyn has a wide range of hand lotions – with fragrances ranging from lavender and tarocco orange to pomegranate and rosewater. The various fragrances actually smell like what they are meant to smell like and are not too artificial. And though it really shouldn’t matter, the tubes are beautifully decorated and a treat to look at. So if nothing else, buy it for decorative purposes. The prices start at about 69kr for 50g.

Victoria’s Crabtree and Evelyn, Silkegade 21, Cph K; open Mon-Thu 10:00-18:00, Fri 10:00-16:00, Sat 11:00-16:00

Nuxe

Nuxe’s hand lotion is called ’rêve de miel’ – honey dream. It does wonders for your skin and, like Tusindfryd, it has a more neutral smell to it, which can be more preferable to the other hand lotions that shower you in perfume. It doesn’t contain parabens, and you can get 75 ml for 95kr.

Magasin Kgs Nytorv, Kongens Nytorv 13, Cph K; opens Mon-Sun 10:00-20:00
