Street race too fast and furious for police

Esbjerg Council is currently building a special stretch of road specifically designed for street racing

The police in Ribe had to do some serious paperwork late last week after busting a street race involving over 100 cars, dangerous speeds and hundreds of spectators.

The police registered speeds of well over 100 km/h in the city centre area of the town in Jutland and had to strip two people of their driving licences and write up to 35 reports on the incident.

“The very high speeds and many spectators make that type of racing deadly,” Knud Reinholdt, the head of traffic at South Jutland Police, said according to Jyllands-Posten newspaper.

Race road on the way
Esbjerg Council is currently building a special stretch of road specifically designed for street racing and the police have called for the eager racers to wait until it has been completed before burning rubber again. But it’s a tough sell apparently.

In March, a 35-year-old man from south Zealand was sentenced to two months in prison for street racing after he hit six onlookers in Albertslund after losing control of his vehicle. He also lost his licence for a year.
