SAS flight headed for Chicago forced to make ‘precautionary’ landing

Company denies that there was an emergency

SAS flight SK943 en route from Copenhagen to Chicago made an unscheduled landing at Keflavik Airport in Reykjavik last Sunday evening.

Pilots made the decision to land the plane after deciding there was “something wrong” with the Airbus A340.

"Something wrong"
SAS would not elaborate on what the problem was with the plane, but denied that there was an emergency landing.

"There were indications that something was wrong, so the pilots chose to land in Keflavik so that technicians could take a look at it,” SAS’s press office told BT.

“Call it a ‘precautionary landing'.”

Sharon Jones, a passenger on the plane, begs to differ with SAS's assesment,

"I was on this flight and the faces and urgent commands of the flight crew showed it was NOT a precautionary landing. It was an emergency," Jones told the Copenhagen Post.
