Aalborg thrashed in Champions League

Aab Aalborg will have to settle for the Europa League football this season after being thrashed 0-4 in Cyprus by Apoel FC last night.

Aab wilted in the Mediterranean heat, conceding two goals in either half thanks to some atrocious defending.

The result puts Apoel through 1-5 on aggregate after the two teams drew 1-1 in Aalborg last week.

Danish woe
Denmark’s last chance for Champions League football this season hinges on FC Copenhagen beating German giants Bayer Leverkusen away tonight by two goals or more, or by the odd goal providing they score at least four.

FC Midtjylland, meanwhile, are on the brink of exiting the Europa League playoffs after losing their first leg 1-4 last week in Greece against Panathanaikos. Their second leg is on Thursday.
