Easter is a beautiful time in our city, and there are lots of activities and events for the whole family to enjoy over the Easter break. Most shops are closed during Easter, but restaurants and attractions for both you and your kids are open.
Trees and flowers are blooming and flea markets are opening all across Copenhagen, if you are not spending time in your own garden or not planning on making the trip to Sweden, why not consider one for the many events taking place in and around the city:
Tivoli Gardens in 2015
In 2015, Tivoli Gardens opens its doors to the longest summer season ever in Tivoli Gardens, with many exciting international events. The opening of the old amusement park on the first of April means that the gardens are open during the Easter holidays. Thus Tivoli will be dressed for Easter, the rides and restaurants will be open and there will be special activities for kids. Entrance is free for children under the age of eight, whilst adults pay 90DKK.
Dirty Dancing
Experience one of the world’s greatest romantic phenomenons, Dirty Dancing The Musical, live in Copenhagen. Have the time of your life with the musical version of the 80’s classic film Dirty Dancing, now staged in the Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen with a genuine star cast of Danish actors, singers and dancers. Actress Mathilde Norholt has the female lead role as Frances “Baby” Houseman and dancer Silas Holst has the male lead role as Johnny Castle. You will also find Karina Frimodt, Claus Bue, Laura Drasbæk, Robert Hansen, James Sampson and Line Krogholm on stage with a large ensemble and orchestra. Glass Art Workshop at Glasstuen
Glasstuen is definitely well worth a visit and during the Easter holiday your children can create a piece of glass art on their own with the help from the owner Karen Horsholt. Karen sells fused glass art, including dishes, pictures, figures, houses etc. The workshop is for children above seven years of age, and it is for free. The workshop runs from 01/04/2015 – 03/04/2015, from 10:30 – 17:00.
Arts and Crafts fair in Hirtshals
Many talented local artisans presents their products at this traditional arts and crafts market. You will have the opportunity to chat with the artisans, learn a little of their techniques and to purchase a work of art. Local food producers / retailers offer tastings and have their high quality products for sale and it all adds up in a nice atmosphere. From 02/04/2015 – 03/04/2015, at Den Svenske Sømandskirke, from 11:00 in the morning until 16:00 in the afternoon.
Easter egg hunt
Take your family on a treasure hunt in the Easter break at Visit Carlsberg, and participate in a competition to win a dray horse as a cuddly toy and 1kg of liquorice from Lakrids by Johan Brülow. With a treasure map in your hand, you visit the exhibitions and the area at your own pace. When you purchase a ticket for the exhibition, it is free to participate in the Easter treasure hunt, get a ride in a horse-drawn carriage and use the Easter letter workshop.
