Students evacuated from dorm inferno

No injuries reported by police

About 70 students were evacuated from their accommodation last night at the Nybrogård Kollegiet dorm in Lyngby after a fire started in one of the kitchens.

No-one was injured in the blaze and the police are looking into how the fire started.

“We got a report at 03.56 that there was a fire in a kitchen at the dorm. When we got there, the fire had reached the roof,” Jeff Nielsen, a duty officer, told TV2 News.

“We expect to be finished out there soon and most can return to their rooms, so we don’t think that there will be much need to rehouse the students.”

Close to DTU
The two-story dorm building – which covers a large area between Bagsværd Lake and Lyngby Lake and is within cycling distance of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU)– consists of 536 rooms and apartments.
