Danish-German border controls extended

The Danish government has officially extended its temporary border controls on the German-Danish border until February 3. The integration minister, Inger Støjberg, confirmed the news at a noon press conference.

“We have been following the situation closely, and we have decided to extend the border controls. This isn’t something that we are doing happily, as it will continue to impede free movement,” she said.

“We are doing what we believe is necessary to ensure public order and security in Denmark.”

The state believes that illegal immigrants entering the country and seeking asylum in Denmark is still a large risk that it needs to monitor and control.
