A 41-year old father, who “spontaneously drove to the border [with Germany], when he saw the disturbing images of refugees on Danish roads”, has been convicted of human trafficking by a court in Randers, DR reports.

The man, who drove an Afghan family from Flensburg in Germany to Grenaa in Jutland, was let off with a fine of 5,000 kroner (rather than the prosecution’s demand of 15,000 kroner) after the court noted he had a family to support.
His lawyer, Peter Zacher, emphasised that his client had acted with the best of intentions in mind and said that was “grotesque” he was being punished for it.
“It is grotesque that a man should be punished for doing a good deed,” Zacher said.
The prosecution had demanded a fine of 5,000 kroner for each person the 41-year old drove to Denmark.
