The foreign minister, Kristian Jensen, has launched a new strategy for Denmark’s continued efforts in Palestine.
The Danish strategy will focus on building up public structures, the economy and a strengthening of human rights from 2016-2020.
“Denmark will work for every step that can bring peace and a two-state solution closer,” said Jensen.
“It’s clear that the engagement should come from the partners themselves, but what we can do is support the building of a future sustainable, connected and democratic Palestinian state.”

Supporting UN
Denmark’s development efforts in Palestine are expected to amount to 445 million kroner over the four-year period. Furthermore, Denmark’s aid contribution via the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) will come to 70 million kroner annually.
UNRWA has been helping Palestinian refugees in the region for over 65 years, and it has helped prevent further migration from the area.
The ongoing Danish efforts in Palestine are backed by a majority of Parliament regarding the support of a two-state solution in close co-operation with the international community’s work to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
