Copenhagen City Hall opened for the first time on this day in 1905. Inspired by the city hall in Siena, Italy, it was designed by Martin Nyrop, and work on its construction began in 1892.

Since the inauguration of its first mayor in 1938, every single one has been a Social Dem.
