Danish Clara Tauson continued her great form and took a huge victory, as she sent out Aryna Sabalenka of the WTA 1000 tournament Dubai Tennis Championship.
In the post-match interview, Clara confirmed it was her biggest win in her career and said she had a feeling that she had hit everything, and had played her chance as an underdog.
And with 27 winners and seven aces, Tauson was very strong.
Tauson won in two straight sets 6 – 3, 6 – 2 against the Belarus star. Sabalenka was top-ranked and is currently ranked #1 on the WTA list.
With the win, Tauson is ready for the next round, where she will face 20-year-old Linda Noskola from the Czech Republic, who, like the Dane, delivered a sensation to qualify for the quarterfinals as she won her match against 5th-seeded Jessica Pegula in two sets.
Noskola is, like Tauson, unseeded in the tournament and currently ranked #35 on the WTA list, while Tauson is ranked #38.
