The Cure to play Roskilde

Brooding rockers to make their first Roskilde appearance since 2001

Dark British rock act The Cure have been added to the list of Roskilde Festival performers.

The Robert Smith-led ensemble have appeared at the festival before and fans can look forward to classic tracks such as Â‘Friday IÂ’m In LoveÂ’ and Â‘Close To MeÂ’. The critically acclaimed groupÂ’s last performance at the show was back in 2001 so they will be looking to make up for lost time. The band has long been popular in Scandinavia thanks to a string of stand-out performances. The stop will be part of the groupÂ’s European festival tour which will begin at Pink Pop in the Netherlands in May and will also include a stop at ItalyÂ’s Heineken Jammin festival. So far the last scheduled stop will be at Rock in Roma in Italy on July 9.

Also announced today were American hip-hop/trance/instrumentalist ArrabMuzik and Canadian blues-folk band Cold Specks.

The Cure are added to a line-up that already included Bruce Springsteen, BjÃ¶rk and Bon Iver, among others.

The 2012 Roskilde Festival takes place July 5 – 8.
