For 48 hours, the inhabitants of Nørrebro will celebrate their district of
Copenhagen.
Known as one of the more vibrant parts of town, the festival stretches from the station pretty much all the way down Nørrebrogade until Queen Louise’s Bridge.
Expect similar scenes to the three previous years with everything from outdoor concerts, street art and parties to board games, table tennis, bicycles and people having a chat outside in the lovely weather (we hope).
Due to the welcoming nature of Nørrebro, you will probably get a taste of the many cultures the district is home to and a taste of the various food offerings the festival is including. Sometimes the food is foraged from the many green areas in town, and even Nørrebro’s own Assistenskirkegården isn’t safe from gatherers.
Over the two days, various prizes are up for grabs, ranging from cinema tickets to vouchers for Thai massage (not a euphemism, an actual massage) or one of the many forms of exercise showcased in the open air.
There’s no excuse to not join in, as many of the happenings are family friendly, meaning even the small ones can participate in workshops, listen to jazz and absorb the distinct vibe Nørrebro gives off. If this is too overwhelming, maybe starting off with a city walk is the best way to immerse yourself into a district that is the home of many immigrants and students.
