The Danish hotel group Solstra has purchased Copenhagen’s five-star Marriott Hotel for a price estimated by industry insiders to be around 700 million kroner.
Neither Solstra nor the Marriot has disclosed the price. Solstra is a majority stakeholder in the Bella Centre, which features the hotels Bella Sky and Crowne Plaza among other properties.
Subject to approval
Solstra said that the day-to-day operation of the Marriott will be unaffected by the sale.
“This is part of our planned expansion and strategic development,” Oscar Crohn, a managing partner at Solstra, said in a statement. “We are ready to expand further.”

The acquisition of the Marriott Hotel is subject to approval by the competition authority. A decision is expected in early 2015.
The Marriott is located on Kalveboderne Brygge overlooking the Copenhagen waterfront.
