Classy Christmas concerts at Koncerthuset

Everything from Mozart to the Messiah

In the run-up to Christmas, treat yourself and your family to DR Koncerthuset’s packed festive programme.  

Its classic symphonies and fresh musical experiences make at least one of its performances a must. 

Koncerthuset (just five minutes walk from DR Byen Metro) opens its Christmas programme on November 27 and 28 with music from Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and traditional Christmas carols.  

With an unusual gaelic twist, Bruce Guthro, the lead singer of Scottish folk rock band Runrig, is heading a celtic-themed Christmas concert on December 3. Get your foot tapping and enjoy a performance like no other.

Handel’s Messiah is a favourite Christmas tradition for many and will be performed by DR’s Vocal Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra at the concert hall.  With its famous ‘Hallelujah’ chorus, it is arguably the German composer’s greatest work. 

If you fancy something a touch more Scandinavian then DR’s Christmas show on December 6 and 7 is not one to miss. Danish and Nordic soloists will perform their own compositions as well as their favourite carols. 

To get the full Xmas factor, DR’s Big Band – with soloists Sinne Eeg and Mads Mathias – is playing in the concert hall’s foyer on December 17.  

Christmas really has come early with so much on offer at DR Koncerthuset.
