Think of round, fried, sweet, glazed, mouthwatering donuts … and now imagine they’re free for one day. Yes, you heard that right, you don’t need to buy, just queue!

The best donut place in Copenhagen, The Donut Shop (you’ll know that if you’ve tried them – if not, what are you waiting for?), is celebrating its first year anniversary on the internationally-celebrated National Donut Day by giving away all the donuts they can make until they are sold out.

Celebrated for 77 years
Back in 1938, the Chicago Salvation Army declared the national day to honour the Salvation Army workers who served coffee and donuts to soldiers during the First War World as a way of cheering them up. Today, 77 years later, it has become a tradition that demands celebration.
