The food and agriculture minister, Dan Jørgensen, has set aside 25 million kroner to make Danish horticulture more sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The funds will give Denmark's horticulture industry the opportunity to invest in greener technology in 2015, such as more sustainable lighting and heating and the reduction of pesticide use.
”The struggling horticulturists are under pressure from energy and heating expenses,” Jørgensen said in a press release.
”So I will provide some green help so the horticulture sector can reduce its energy bill such as with a new effective heating pump, which not only benefits the environment, but assists the encumbered industry.”

Equipment investment
Aside from energy investments, the horticulturists can also apply for support for investments into equipment that reduces the consumption of water and pesticides.
A total of 55 million kroner has been invested into the horticulture sector from 2014-2015. The sector made a turnover of 4.2 billion kroner last year.
