Breaking news: Man shot at Town Hall Square

Few details known as dust settles around Tuesday morning incident

Copenhagen Police wrote on Twitter this morning that a man had been shot at Town Hall Square. “Shooting at Town Hall Square. One man shot. Suspected perpetrator arrested,” they wrote.

Kristian Aaskov the head officer on duty confirmed these details to Politiken but was unable to elaborate. “The motive is unknown and the victim’s condition is unknown,” he said.

A press release from the police later revealed that two men had been shot near the bailiff’s court on Hestemøllerstræde near Town Hall Square.

The police announced that the suspected gunman was in custody and that a sawn-off shotgun had been found.

Jyllands-Posten reports that the police are asking people to stay away from the area and are patrolling in large numbers with machine guns.
