Bus torpedoes building in Copenhagen

The police suspect a brake problem was to blame for Østerbro omnibus crash

Around 20 passengers got a shock and a few scrapes and bruises yesterday evening when the bus they were on crashed into a building in the Østerbro district of Copenhagen.

The bus – which was driving the oft-crowded 1A line from Hvidovre to Hellerup – rammed the building on Ribegade just after 6pm after taking a detour because of a car accident on its usual route on Østerbrogade.

Brake dilemma
According to the police on the scene, no-one was seriously injured, but a few were treated for shock.

The police are looking into why the bus smashed into the building and said that the bus driver had explained there were problems with the brakes.

Aside from hitting the building, the bus also smashed up a car that was parked nearby.
