Danish women are getting more cosmetic liposuction and breast enlargement surgeries than ever before, DR reports.
Last year, 1,756 women underwent cosmetic procedures to have their breasts lifted or made bigger, while 697 paid for fat-reducing liposuction on their belly, buns or thighs, thereby beating all previous records, according to the national serum institute.
Ready for bikini season
Cosmetic surgeons say they are especially busy in the weeks leading up to the beach season in July and August.
Larger private clinics like Nygart, Hovedstadens Plastikkirurgi, N'age and Qura and the private hospital Aleris-Hamlet all told DR they have seen a rising inflow of patients before the summer holidays.
"As paradoxical as it may sound, people ask for liposuction right before the holidays, although we recommend the winter, because you need to wear bandages for a while after the surgery," plastic surgeon Bo Jønsson told DR.
