Christmas at Tivoli

No Christmas in Copenhagen is ever complete without taking in the marvel that is Christmas in Tivoli. This year guests will be able to experience a Scandinavian Christmas and a Russian Christmas side by side in the historic gardens. A jovial Santa Claus will be ready to take wishes at his Christmas grotto (the Pantomime Theatre) and the traditional Christmas tree will tower breathtakingly above the more than 50 stalls that litter the Tivoli paths, offering a host of seasonal delights, such as freshly cooked klejner (giant traditional Christmas cookies),honey cakes and freshly-made pancakes. Scandinavian arts and craft are also on display. After satisfying your sweet tooth, hop on some of the park’s legendary rides or make your debut on one of the five new ‘Christmas’ rides, The Russian Troika, The Siberian Express, The Chinese Lantern, The Swing Carousel and the Music Carousel. Also explore the brand new Merry Corner for a spike in merriment.

Nyhavn Xmas Market opens with free beer tasting

On Saturday, Nyhavn will open its annual Christmas market brimming with presents, food and loads of traditions that underpin the Danish Christmas spirit. So come and experience Christmas the way former Nyhavn resident Hans Christian Andersen would have, taking in the soothing sights, tastes and sounds of the charming harbour location decked out in the spirit of ‘Jul’. The week-long event kicks off with the much anticipated Christmas beer tasting on November 16 from 13:00 to 15:00 at the massive Nyhavn anchor.

Turning on the Christmas Lights 

The Christmas-loving Danes are already decorating their beloved streets with seizure-inducing lights. They will be lit at 16:00 so don’t go to Christiania before or it will hurt your eyes.
