No regional trains from Nørreport Station

Regional trains will not stop at Nørreport Station until April 2014

Denmark's busiest train station will no longer be a stopping point for regional trains. The national rail infrastructure company Banedanmark announced last Friday that no regional trains will stop at Nørreport Station until April 2014, due to the construction of a new platform.

Long-distance passengers who need to get to Nørreport will have to change to S-trains between Østerport Station and Copenhagen Central Station. The renovation is part of the 'Ny Nørreport' project, a modernisation of the entire Nørreport Station that began in 2011. The project is not without its detractors. Recently, store owners at Frederiksborggade complained about the construction of a new Metro entrance that has scared off customers in the area and reduced sales considerably.

The 'Ny Nørreport' project is expected to be finished by the beginning of 2015. The project is a collaboration between Banedanmark, the national rail provider DSB and the City Council.
