Body pulled from harbour was missing 28-year-old

Friends and family confirm that Martin Svejgaard Helbo, who went missing on April 13, was found dead in Islands Brygge

Martin Svejgaard Helbo, the 28-year-old who went missing in the early hours of April 13 following a night on the town, was found dead earlier today.

According to media sources, divers recovered Helbo's body in the harbour area of Islands Brygge around 11:30am this morning. Police confirmed that a body had been pulled out of the water, but as of Sunday afternoon had not officially identified the body as Helbo. They did say that the body they pulled out had been in the water for an extended period.

Public broadcaster DR spoke with Helbo's father, who reported that it was his son's body that was recovered, and friends of Helbo also confirmed the find to Politiken newspaper.

Copenhagen Police, along with Helbo's friends and family, had been searching for signs of the missing 28-year-old since he was last seen near Ravnsborggade in Nørrebro following a night out in Copenhagen's Kødbyen district.

Police officially called off the search last week, saying that they had "nothing new to go on". At the time, police said they had no evidence to suggest that Helbo had been the victim of a crime.
