Three weekend shootings possibly related

Police investigating possible gang connections in three separate shootings in three days

Three weekend shooting incidents, one each in Gladsaxe, Kokkedal and Hareskovby near the town of Værløse, are probably related, according to investigators with Rigspolitiets Nationale Efterforsknings Center (NEC).

"It is obvious that there is a connection,” Michael Ask, the head of NEC, told DR News. “It is obvious that three shootings in three days is out of the ordinary.”

Ask noted that burning vehicles were found following all three shootings and acknowledged that some of those involved had gang connections.

"We are trying to establish whether there is a connection between those involved,” said Ask.

On Friday, a 19-year-old man was shot and killed near the Høje Gladsaxe housing estate. On Saturday evening, a 20-year-old Kokkedal man was wounded in the foot by shots fired from a vehicle at a local shopping centre.

And finally, on Sunday afternoon another 20-year-old was hit in the back by shots fired at close range on Gammel Hareskovvej near Værløse.

A 28-year-old man with gang ties was arrested on Sunday in Gladsaxe in connection with the death of the 19-year-old.

Police say that he is charged with illegal possession of three firearms and live ammunition. He is scheduled to appear before the court today.

According to a press release, area police are keeping a close watch on gang activities. They also said they had increased patrols and implemented stop search zones in Gladsaxe, Herlev and other areas.
