  • Storm Floriane causes disruptions across Denmark, with severe weather in Jutland

Storm Floriane is causing significant disruptions, problems, and damages across Denmark, with the worst impacts felt in Jutland.

According to TV2 Weather, the strongest winds are hitting Thorsminde, where gusts have been recorded at 39.1 m/s, well above the hurricane threshold of 32.6 m/s.

Several issues have already been reported. In Gentofte, a tree has fallen onto an overhead line, causing an S-train to be stationary near Gentofte Station. Holstebro municipality has issued warnings about potential flooding in the Storå river area.

Transport services are also affected. Due to the storm, fewer trains will be running between Middelfart and Esbjerg until 6 p.m. on Tuesday evening. Trains that usually run between Copenhagen and Esbjerg are instead operating between Copenhagen and Fredericia, requiring travelers to change trains there. However, trains between Aarhus H and Esbjerg are running as normal.

In Hvide Sande, the water level has risen more than 2.7 meters above normal. Furthermore, GoCollective will run fewer trains on several routes from Tuesday morning through the rest of the day.

Several rivers in Jutland have overflowed and many roads are currently closed due to safety reasons.

Today, December 18, marks World Arabic Language Day, an annual celebration since 2012 recognizing Arabic’s profound contributions to global culture, knowledge, and diversity.

Arabic is spoken by over 450 million people worldwide and holds official status in nearly 25 countries. As one of the six official languages of the United Nations, it is a cornerstone of cultural and linguistic diversity.
