Roskilde Air Show
An event for the whole family, the biennial Roskilde Air Show  is a thrilling experience that includes airshows and exhibitions related to both civil and military aviation. This year the organisers vowed to include as many different aircraft as possible, including civil airliners, business aircraft, helicopters, military aircraft from the Second World War, aerobatic flight aircraft and a wide selection of home-built aircraft.  The show will also feature gliders, ultra lights, model planes and parachute teams.  Pleasure flights will be available on both Saturday and Sunday, which are sure to be a highlight. Schubertiaden 2013
The annual festival dedicated to Austrian pianist and composer Franz Schubert offers a diverse programme. Concerts will take place at various locations in Roskilde, and there are plenty of other ways to partake, including a poster competition for children, a singer on a bicycle, Viennese music in the museum courtyard, two piano evenings and much more. It’s sure to be an evening (or two) to remember, made even more enjoyable with a free glass of Austrian wine served during all the concert breaks. MD

Circus Dannebrog
The Danish National Circus, Dannebrog, has been spreading joy with its vibrant circus tradition since 1880.  This season, Circus Dannebrog  promises a unique programme reminiscent of the ‘good old days’. Among the talented artists are an acrobatic comedy duo, the Moustache Brothers, and the contortionist Miss Alexandra. Other performances combine soulful music, beautiful costumes and groomed animals. Strøm School: Back to the future
Danish electronic composer and producer Jens Berents Christiansen (aka Rumpistol) will host a musical playgroup and history lesson in electronic music as part of the Strøm Festival. Live music combined with a  DJ  set will feature electronic music from the past eight decades,  offering fun for the kids and a trip down memory lane for the adults. MD

Gone Home and Mass Hysteria
Performance number six of the Thousands Thread  programme  features a double-billed show with two experimental and innovative dance performances. Gone Home is an intriguing interpretation of Little Red Riding-Hood, in which, the promo claims, “conventions are twisted and animal instincts, desire and femininity are explored and questioned”. In Mass Hysteria, the choreographers ‘two-women-machine-show’ re-enact  videos of real life events found on Youtube, exploring  ideas about originality and subjective and objective experiences. MD

Leonard Cohen – Artworks 2013
He may be better known for his music, but the Canadian has been drawing and painting for over 40 years now. His works, like his lyrics, are honest and personal and attempt to capture the paradoxical nature of being. The ever humble Cohen does not refer to his works as art, but as “acceptable decorations”.
