Select Shopping | Anyone for brunch?

You have probably noticed that at 10am every weekend, the Copenhageners awaken after too much fun the night before and swarm to the cafes and restaurants. Wonder what they’re doing? They are going out for brunch, which has become an integral part – along with drinking beer and biking – of Danish culture.

Restaurant Sult
The Cinematheque’s brunch may be pricey, but it is also the mother of them all. You are offered everything your heart could ever desire, from the classic eggs and bacon to vegetarian spring rolls and marinated berries. You are allowed two hours of stuffing yourself with these mouthwatering delicacies. Wash it all down with fresh ginger, apple and raspberry smoothies, tea and coffee.
Back of Cinemateket, Vognmagergade 8B, Cph K; Sat-Sun, two-hour seatings starting from 09:30; brunch buffet for 200kr, book a table at www.restaurantsult.dk or call 3374 3417

Café Castro
Towards the end of the month, when your pockets are near empty, you can go to Café Castro instead and enjoy one of the best brunches in Copenhagen. You may find it a bit far from your regular shopping route on Strøget, but it is well worth the trip. The cafe offers more than 40 dishes, including soup, yoghurt and fresh fruits. After a visit here, you will definitely not need lunch.
Nørrebrogade 229D, Cph N; Sat-Sun 09:00-15:00, Mon-Fri 10:00-15:00; brunch buffet: Sat-Sun 129kr, Mon-Fri 99kr, includes glass of juice and tea/coffee; 3585 3585; www.cafecastro.dk

Couloir
This restaurant might as well be in Jutland. But when you get there, you will not regret having travelled all the way to Amager, as the place is situated just opposite Amager Strandpark and their brunch, which comes with homemade nutella, is fantastic. What better way to spend a sunny Sunday than an exquisite brunch followed by a trip to the beach?
Amager Strandvej 112, Cph S; daily 11:00-14:00; brunch platter: 115kr, excludes drinks; 3179 7394; www.couloir.dk

Carlton
Situated in the heart of Copenhagen on Halmtorv square, you will find a multitude of cafes that make it difficult to decide which place to enjoy your weekend fix, but with Carlton you will not be disappointed. Its menu changes often, making it attractive and exciting to visit again and again, and they also have a vegetarian brunch option. Spoil yourself with a glass of freshly-squeezed orange juice and indulge under the sun or a parasol.
Halmtorvet 14, Cph V; every day 10:00-15:00; brunch platter: 119kr, excludes drinks; 3329 9090; www.carltonkbhv.dk
